The NMC Oncology Center was a design competition for a 10,000 square meter extension to an existing hospital compromising an oncology treatment area including two linear accelerators, chemotherapy, clinics and all the related diagnostic and treatment services
The National Oncology Center, Luanda includes around 10,000 sqm of new construction, distributed on a ground and eight floor above it, in addition to 3,000 sqm of remodeled space.
The center includes a Radiology and Radiotherapy Unit, a Chemotherapy Unit, in addition to the support diagnostic services such as Outpatient Clinics, Physiotherapy, Lab and Surgical Suite.
The center capacity is 90 beds, including 6 intensive care beds and 84 regular inpatient beds distributed on the different clinical departments
The Oncology Center designer's aim was to create a strong and evocative statement. The hospital emulates Noah's arc as a symbol of deliverance from the deadly alignment.
The Hospital architect selected strong and modern texture materials to give the feel of a slick, high-tech building.
Project Description
The National Eye Hospital is one of the largest specialized private eye hospitals in the Middle East. The design includes six operating rooms, two lazic rooms, and the latest modalities in the ophthalmology, diagnostic and treatment. The building include around 8,000 sqm of built-up area
Hospital Design Concept
The National Eye Hospital's designer had two aims: the first one was to create a functional hospital with optimized circulation despite the site and height restriction.
The second one was to create from the hospital an architectural statement that will contribute to the marketing of the hospital. Natural egyptian stone with golden glass was used to create a warm and inviting palette.
Project Description
600 bed replacment hospital to serve as a tertiary hospital for the Emirate of Abu-Dhabi. AM princpals were responsible for the concept design while working for Burt-hill.
Hospital Design Concept
The aim of the hospital designer was to remodel the huge mass of the hospital into four smaller towers that would have a more human scale.
Special care was given to produce and environmental responsible design and the adoption of the hospital to the ESTIDAMA guidelines, hence creative shading solutions were created to poof the hospital from the harsh hot climate.
Project Description
The five diagnostic centers are built one in each province of Turkmenistan. Each center has an area of around 5,600 sqm and includes the full range of ambulatory care services such as polyclinics, imaging, laboratory physiotherapy and pharmacy. Some of the centers include also day procedures endoscopies. The centers were inaugurated by the late Saparu Murat President of Turkmenistan in September 2004 and were funded partly by the OPEC Fund, the Islamic Bank of Development and the Saudi Fund of Development.
Diagnostic Centers Design Concept
The aim of the five diagnostic centers'designer was to create a statement that expresses the construction renaissance in Ashgabat. The center plans' shape brings to mind inviting hands, embracing those who come to it. Similarly to the other buildings in Ashgabat, the diagnostic center's architect used white marble. However, to create horizontal lines, one course was polished while the other was hammered.
Project Description
140 bed, 17,000 sqm specialized heart hospital, built by the renowned heart surgeon Dr. Dawood Hanania. The center was inaugurated by the late King Hussein of Jordan, in November 1994.
Hospital Design Concept
The hospital designer used the Aglouni stone to create a massive façade that provides the notion of strength and power. The fenestrations were inclined to reduce heat gain from western sun.
The Traumatology Hospital in Turkmenistan is a 250 bed, 40,000 square meters specialized traumatology and orthopedics hospital, built in Turkmenistan.
Project Description
The Orthodpedic Specialized Hospital – Jeddah is a 140 bed 19,000 sqm private institution, located in the upper class residential Khor of Jeddah.
The Orthodpedic Hospital was initiated by professor Dr. Wael Kaawash and Professor Dr. Mohamed Atiyah and financed by the Bin Laden group. The design was completed in 2008.
Design Concept
The client requested from the architect of the Orthodpaedic Specialized Hospital to design a hospital that would tell that it is orthopaedic related, and not a normal hospital. The resultant hospital design has a four stories column that resembles the human spine and that is led lighted at night.
